E. A. Spencer Estate, Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument #564
Built: 1903 Declared: 08/25/1992
With its center dormer, spacious front porch with wide stairs and space-maximizing square shapes, this Charles C. Dodge-designed house built in 1898 is an early and classic example of an American Foursquare home. Designed to be plain with “honest” woodwork, this transitional architectural style influenced the Prairie School and the Craftsman styles.
